The Ack­land Art Muse­um is home to 134 Dutch and Flem­ish draw­ings by 17th and 18th cen­tu­ry artists including Rembrandt, Rubens and Van Dyke. The museum wanted two things: firstly, a digital interface that enabled viewers to ‘Extend the boundaries of seeing’ and examine the drawings in detail, and secondly, a visual identity system that packaged and enhanced the experience. A key element of the visual identity system is a typeface called Custodia — a modern typeface based on 17th-century Dutch typography.
